1/300 RNZAF Roundels & Bars (1944-45)
Product no.: 300-NZ-1

In the early to middle stages of WW2, Royal New Zealand Air Force markings followed the conventions of the RAF. By 1944, however, they adopted a distinct style. By this stage of the war, the majority of New Zealand's aircraft were being supplied by the Americans, and they usually arrived with US markings. The pragmatic Kiwis therefore adapted these as their own; the bars were retained, while a fairly low key blue and white roundel went over the star. Like most forces in the Far East, red was omitted from the roundel, to avoid confusion with Japanese aircraft. There were many variations in the style of these, but I've gone with what seems to have been the most common theme. The markings on this sheet come in two slightly different styles, as I've included variant markings with the dark blue at the top and bottom of the roundel replaced with yellow; this seems to have become the usual style for fuselage markings, with the blue retained on the wings.

These decals are scaled to represent 30", 36" and 48" height markings in 1/300 scale, or double those sizes in 1/600. The actual heights are 2.5mm, 3mm and 4mm, although obviously they're wider than they are tall.
